A couple weeks ago, I returned from my Oregon Fall Colors Photo Tour. Since then, in between working on upcoming Costa Rica photo tours, I've been able to do a bit of post processing, and thought I'd share some of the highlights from the last Oregon photography workshop of the year. Before that, I'll tell you that we spent three days photographing the world-famous Columbia River Gorge and two more days at spectacular Silver Falls State Park. It was incredibly beautiful with autumn colors exploding everywhere, the camaraderie was fantastic, and we had so much fun!

While I was in Costa Rica earlier this year, I scouted many locations, hotels, and restaurants, and created the new South Pacific Costa Rica Photo Tour. Originally, I was planning on doing this tour in January 2025, but the incredible boutique hotel where we are staying was already sold out for January and the first half of February. Because of the climate in the South Pacific region, pushing the tour later in the year would mean that most of the streams and waterfalls would have very little flow, so I moved the tour up to December 15-21, 2024. What an awesome way to end the year!

It's been a while since I have written about fine art photography prints. Clients that have followed me for years know that over the last two decades, my prints have been featured in dozens of gallery exhibitions and juried fine art festivals throughout the United States, Costa Rica, and South Korea. Despite that, for the last eight years, all my time has been dedicated to producing exceptional photography tours. Unfortunately, during that time, my photographic prints became secondary, but they rightfully deserve a more prominent role.

A photography tour client once told me that he never realized Oregon could be considered the waterfall capital of the United States until he did an Oregon photo tour with me. He was correct. Blessed with abundant rainfall and enormous snowcapped mountains that produce tremendous snowmelt and feed countless rivers and streams, Oregon is home to more than two hundred waterfalls. With so many remarkable cascades, it's challenging to create a complete list of the best, but below is an account of 12 spectacular, must-see Oregon waterfalls.
